Do you think "video artists" would pay to have their work displayed at LAX, where hundreds of thousands of people could see it? So do I.And yet, Villaraigosa and the City Council are handing $269,000 of YOUR money to one Megan McLarney "to create, program and install video art from 17 artists for the Tom Bradley International Terminal."
How about a video showing a single clip, over and over, of "I'm mad as hell and I won't take this any more!" Or perhaps my own personal tour de force double feature: "Blimp-capades" and "Goodyear Blimp Landing."

There must be a few of the same people associated with airport art making the rounds in cities across the US to promote useless concepts to broken economies. Sacramento is buying expensive art for this airport too, but we are closing parks, cutting services, and increasing costs to residents. If you don't live at the airport, you get extra art free courtesy of the graffiti demons who rule the streets at night. Wonder just what sets the graffiti vandals apart from the airport cons other than the price?
ReplyDeleteWhat IDIOTS! Is this art supposed to foster more travel through LAX? You HAVE to admit, come hell, high water, or near-bankruptcy, the clueless clowncil stays true to form in their stupidity!
